Oilers blast past Sharks into Round 2 with 3-1 win

Edmonton Oilers goalie Cam Talbot (33) blocks a goal attempt by San Jose Sharks center Patrick Marleau (12) during the second period in Game 6 of a first-round NHL hockey playoff series Saturday, April 22, 2017, in San Jose, Cal.

Late in the game, the Sharks were leading 7-0.

Sharks coach Peter DeBoer, in a conference call Friday, said they will regroup and look to find a way to not lose the close games they won en route to last year's Cup final.

The Oilers, who have adopted the slogan "Orange Crush" for their playoff run, dispatched a veteran San Jose Sharks team in six games over the weekend in the first round.

Apparently in his talks with Merkel in March, President Trump did not realise he could not make a deal with Germany alone. President Trump during an interview published Sunday said he had good chemistry with German Chancellor Angela Merkel.

The Edmonton Oilers can punch their ticket into round two of the playoffs with a win Saturday night in San Jose. The Sharks have a history of responding well to setbacks after their run to the Stanley Cup Final previous year, but went scoreless well into the third period in their loss to the Oilers. Jake Allen made 34 saves for the Blues, who led 2-0 and 3-1 in Game 5 before a furious rally by the Wild to try to keep their season alive forced the extra frame.

The Sharks immediately bounced back with a pair of scoring chances - the first a 2-on-1 odd-man rush, the second when Marleau drove the net after taking a pass from Joe Thornton - but came away empty handed. Slepyshev raced to the puck and got in alone on Jones on the goal to make it 2-0 just 1:50 into the period. He returned to the lineup in Game 3 and played the final four games of the series. They will face Anaheim.

"Well, one, they're rested, so that certainly works in their favour... they've got a tremendous amount of confidence right now, whereas San Jose, I don't want to say they weren't confident, but they had a tougher finish than Anaheim did", said McLellan. This is the first season since 2005-06 that they made the playoffs, and they did it after finishing 29th among 30 teams in 2015-16. In addition to enjoying the game, I received a lesson in civility that has convinced me that we as a community could do so much better than we now are at enjoying, cultivating and teaching civility.

"They know all those guys", Talbot said. Mats Zuccarello, the Rangers right wing, scored two of the three goals in the second period. Ryan Nugent-Hopkins played more against Pavelski than anyone else on the Sharks (forward or defense).

United Nations head calls for political settlement to end Yemen crisis
He said Yemen is experiencing a tragedy of enormous proportions where especially children are already dying at an alarming rate. The conflict threatens to endanger access to the Hodeida port on the Red Sea, a vital lifeline for most of Yemen's population.

"In my opinion we're playing with house money and sometimes that's not a bad thing", McLellan said.

"That's not the team we are", Draisaitl said. You know, this is a really special place to play the way they treat us off of the ice, you know, not just at The Tank. Similarly, Gibson was pulled from Game 3 in Calgary but otherwise was very solid in the series sweep. Game 6 might have been the last time they'll be on the same team.

Thornton spoke to the media before DeBoer revealed the severity of the injury, and Thornton downplayed the problem, calling it "the normal stuff that hockey players deal with".
