Manatee to observe 'important' National Day of Prayer

Mason Countians will have an opportunity to participate in the 66th National Day of Prayer, locally, at the Mason County Courthouse. The event will begin at 11:30 a.m. with music and the National Day of Prayer observance will begin at noon.

Andrea Southerland, a member of REALife Ministries, said one of her favorite aspects of the event was people of different denominations coming together in prayer.

"It is growing year after year and that is very encouraging", she said.

The observance is now held the first Thursday each May when all Americans are encouraged to exercise their religious freedom by gathering publicly to worship and pray for our land.

Organizers will host the 6 p.m. event on the square of the historic Lowndes County Courthouse in Downtown Valdosta. The theme is based on scripture from Daniel.

We were encouraged Thursday and hopeful that respect and integrity might soon return to the political arena.
