Barcelona, Madrid win as title race goes to final round

Madrid sit second in La Liga to Barcelona but are level on points with their rivals and crucially hold a game in hand.

They made hard work of the Andalusians, who had plenty of chances, but yet again had Ronaldo to thank, his brace and a goal each for Nacho and Toni Kroos seeing the home side over the line.

The Sevilla clash was Real Madrid's last home game of the season and with the Colombian taking the time to applaud each stand in the Bernabeu with a rather resigned and forlorn expression, it didn't take a rocket scientist to recognise that the attacker was bidding farewell to the Real supporters.

Cristiano Ronaldo scored his 400th and 401st goal for Real Madrid in all competitions (391 appearances).

Nacho opened the scoring from a quickly taken free kick.

Shares of Kate Spade rose 8.2 percent to $18.36 after bigger rival Coach Inc said it would buy the company for $2.4 billion. The last time the VIX touched a level this low, it was 1993 and Sleepless in Seattle was about to hit movie house marquees.

Neymar struck a hat-trick after Barcelona defender Lucas Digne escaped a red card for his eighth-minute challenge on Las Palmas forward Jese.

France worldwide Lucas Digne was chosen in the unfamiliar role of right back due to the shortages in defence and risked getting sent off early with a last-ditch tackle on Jese but was only shown a yellow card.

After a quiet start to the half, Betis broke the deadlock in the 57th minute courtesy of a superb strike from Dani Ceballos, who beat Oblak with a powerful volley from 25-yards out.

However, Neymar produced clinical finishes after 67 and 71 minutes to safeguard the points for Barcelona.

Since the European Cup became the Champions League in 1992, Real Madrid have a 100% success rate in Champions League finals.

In the next over, Martin Guptill fell to Narine as the batsman missed the delivery while trying to sweep over backward square leg. In the sixteenth over, Maxwell hit the wrist spinner Kuldeep Yadav for consecutive sixes, but was then outfoxed by the bowler.

At the bottom, Sporting Gijon joined Granada and Osasuna in being relegated despite winning 1-0 at Eibar as Deportivo la Coruna secured safety in a 0-0 draw at Villarreal.

Jovetic got the goal his play richly deserved three minutes after the restart, finishing off an excellent Sevilla move with a low curling effort.

However, Stefan Savic found an equaliser for Diego Simeone's side in the 66th minute with a close-range strike to wrap up third place with one game of the season to spare. But Alexander Szymanowski equalised on the hour with a header that meant so much for Leganes.

Madrid are tied with Barca at the top of the table on 87 points. Celta went into the game having been agonisingly dumped out of the Europa League by Manchester United and also on a four-game losing streak in LaLiga.
