Fast food chain McDonald's announces new delivery service in Phoenix

Since the feedback was overwhelmingly positive, the feature will now be available in more than 1,000 stores in the select cities. The company, along with UberEATS, began piloting McDelivery in more than 200 restaurants throughout Miami, Orlando, and Tampa Bay in January.

Customers can place McDonald's orders on the UberEATS mobile app or on, using the same account they use to take Uber rides and track their order, as an UberEATS delivery partner brings their meal directly to them. According to the fast-food giant, the pilot test reflected consistent growth and resulted in high levels of customer satisfaction.

"We're not testing; we're rolling out", McDonald's CEO Steve Easterbrook told reporters in March.

But in most cases, McDonald's operates its own delivery service.

McDonald's already has well-established delivery services in Asia and the Middle East, where for some restaurants delivery is 40 percent of sales.

Jason Droege, who heads up UberEverything, said Uber is "thrilled to expand partnership with McDonald's in the bring the ease and reliability of Uber's technology to deliver customer's favorite menu items". In the USA, the company said it can rapidly expand delivery by using UberEats.
