Alisher Usmanov launches £1billion bid to buy Arsenal

Alisher Usmanov launches £1billion bid to buy Arsenal

Mr Usmanov is not planning on disposing of his stake and the offer to buy out Mr Kroenke came from a desire to work co-operatively and strengthen the team, one of these people said.

Usmanov, the metals magnate, has clashed with Kroenke over the direction of the club and he has suggested the club's senior management has to take a firmer line.

KSE is a committed, long term investor in Arsenal and will remain so.

Arsenal majority shareholder Stan Kroenke responded Monday to speculation about a possible takeover by insisting his company KSE UK's shares in the English Premier League club "are not, and never have been for sale".

Usmanov's interest in acquiring a larger share at the North London outfit is no secret as he now plays no part in the decison-making at the club.

Nashville Predators captain Mike Fisher 'under evaluation' after undisclosed injury
Rickard Rakell opened the scoring at 11:20 in the first period, and the Ducks outshot the Predators 14-2 in that period. However, there also have been some games where they blew the lead then regained the lead and won in comeback fashion.

Mr Usmanov, a metals magnate who owns 30 per cent of Arsenal, conveyed the offer in a letter to Stan Kroenke, the U.S. sports mogul, who controls a 67 per cent stake.

Arsene Wenger, who has been manager since 1996, has been the target of protests from some of the club's fans. At the very least, the bid may put pressure on Kroenke - a remote figure rarely seen at the Emirates - to find a bold way of demonstrating to supporters that Arsenal's decline can be turned around.

"Overall I believe that we played since January in a very hard environment for different reasons", Wenger said.

He added that the court must look into these aspects, because a community can not decide what constitutes a fundamental right. He subsequently moved the court to get the talaq declared valid, but the court dismissed the declaration suit on May 12.

Usmanov first acquired shares in Arsenal in 2007, when he teamed up with Farhad Moshiri to buy a 14.6% stake for £75m. "He is not at fault if we did not reach the Champions League", Wenger said.

And although they take on Chelsea in the final of the oldest footballing competition on Saturday, their season is still perceived as a failure due to missing out on the Champions League.

The Frenchman, who is out of contract at the end of the campaign, is preparing for the final Premier League game of the season against Everton with a faint hope of finishing in the top-four for the 21st consecutive season.
