Graco Recalls Car Seats Over Webbing Safety Concerns

In the event of a crash, the seat's webbing may not properly restrain your child, the release said.

Specifically, eight different models of the Graco My Ride 65 convertible child restraints have been recalled as a preemptive measure (no related injuries have been reported yet).

During testing, harness webbing on the auto seats "did not meet requirements for breaking strength" set out in Canadian regulations, the advisory said. The model impacted is the Graco My Ride 65 convertible child restraint.

The recall affects certain My Ride 65 convertible vehicle seats that were manufactured during the summer of 2014 and sold in the United States at list prices ranging from $119 to $199.

The possibly defective seats were manufactured on July 22, 2014.

The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration announced Wednesday that the webbing in the Graco My Ride 65 auto seat failed to meet Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standards.

Graco says in documents that it will notify owners and dealers will provide a replacement harness free of charge. The recall, which applies only to the harness restraint and not the entire auto seat, will begin July 17, the company said. Owners can contact Graco customer service at 1-800-345-4109.
