Melania Trump Confirms She Is Practicing Catholic After Pope Meeting

President Donald Trump met with Pope Francis, the famously humble pontiff with whom he has publicly clashed, concluding his tour of the ancestral homes of the world's three largest monotheistic religions.

Trump, the 13th president to visit the Vatican, also toured the Sistine Chapel.

Trump will later meet Italian President Sergio Mattarella and Prime Minister Paolo Gentiloni.

Following the meeting, Ivanka wrote on Instagram "It was an incredible honor to have an audience with His Holiness Pope Francis today". Following stops in Saudi Arabia and Israel, Trump had a private 30-minute meeting behind closed doors with the pontiff.

The Pope joked around with the president and his wife after their meeting.

Trump and Francis clashed previous year when the the pontiff said a man who thinks about building walls and not bridges is "not Christian".

Now, the two leaders haven't had the best relationship in the past.

Upon meeting this morning, the two were eventually joined by Trump's entourage, consisting of Melania, Ivanka and Jared Kushner - a moment that has since spawned quite a few memes.

Others made a decision to Photoshop the image after all. He's been known to be highly sympathetic to the LBGTQ community as well as outspoken on a number of "scientific" issues like climate change.

The visit to the Vatican is part of Trump's first foreign trip as U.S. president and comes after stops in Saudi Arabia and Palestinian. In Israel, Trump reaffirmed his commitment to strong ties with the longtime USA ally and urged Israelis and the Palestinians to work harder toward peace.

Later on Wednesday, Mr Trump will fly to Brussels, where significant protests are expected.
