Alberta fighter Tim Hague dies following boxing match in Edmonton

Jackie Neil says in a statement on behalf of her family that Tim Hague died on Sunday.

The 34-year-old's head bounced off the canvas in sickening fashion, and he laid motionless before the referee waved off the fight.

Former UFC heavyweight Tim Hague is reportedly brain dead after suffering a knockout loss in a boxing bout in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada on Friday night.

In a video post promoting the June 16 fight, Hague said he stepped up to fight Braidwood with only "a few weeks notice" as Braidwood didn't have an opponent.

Tim Hague suffered a brain injury during the fight.

Before news of Hauge's death early Sunday afternoon, Edmonton Combative Sports Commission Pat Reid said that a post-fight official review is conducted immediately after each competition.

Multiple reports surfaced stating that Hague had passed away Saturday morning, but his sister has since refuted those reports.

He had been knocked down three times in the first round and a further two times in the second before it was waved off. According to various reports, Hague was clearly not right backstage and was rushed to the hospital. "We will miss him with so greatly", the statement reads.
