Now the area is also reportedly clear of guardrails and other equipment.

Jews revere the hilltop compound in Jerusalem's Old City as the Temple Mount, site of the two Jewish biblical temples.

The Noble Sanctuary contains the Aqsa Mosque, the third holiest shrine in Islam, and the golden Dome of the Rock.

Mass prayer gatherings had been held in the street outside the Old City walls and near-daily clashes between Israeli security forces and demonstrators have taken place since the metal detectors were introduced in the wake of the killings of the policemen near the site on 14 July.

Director of Waqf in East Jerusalem Azzam Salhab read a statement in a news briefing held in Jerusalem and signed by Jerusalem's religious leaders saying they chose to perform the afternoon prayers on Thursday in Al-Aqsa Mosque. The compound is in east Jerusalem, seized by Israel in the 1967 Six-Day War and later annexed in a move never recognised by the worldwide community.

The film, which also stars Rajesh Tailang, Ankur Bhatia and Sunil Upadhyay, is all set to hit the theatres on August 18. Adding, "As an actor it has been an interesting and emotionally challenging experience".

Tasnim: Palestinians had been protesting outside the al-Aqsa compound since Israeli authorities installed metal detectors, turnstiles, and additional security cameras there following a deadly shooting attack more than a week ago.

The leaders met after Israel removed security installations around al-Aqsa Mosque, a move which angered Palestinians, who accused the Israelis of the "Judaisation" of Jerusalem.

They also called for all mosques in the area to shut down on Friday and direct worshippers to the Al-Aqsa Mosque instead.

The Waqf, the Jordanian-backed religious trust that administers the holy site, had declared its approval after Israel removed the metal detectors earlier in the week, but that did not reassure the public or political leaders.

"All we do is report what happens". Before the announcement, factions had been calling for a "day of rage" on Friday, which would probably have fueled the violence. Israeli forces shot and killed four Palestinians in the fighting, and a Palestinian man stabbed and killed three Israelis in their home.

The clashes between Israeli and Muslim worshippers are still underway despite the government removing the security apparatus from the holy site.

Erdoğan said on July 26 that the removal of metal detectors was a right move but not enough.

In his July 24 report, Rory Jones informs readers that U.S. envoy Jason Greenblatt visited the region following "a weekend of violence over security at the Jerusalem site-known to Jews as the Temple Mount and to Muslims as the Noble Sanctuary-in which three Israelis and at least three Palestinians were killed".

One recent trend that greatly concerns me is Israel's ongoing construction of the Wall through east Jerusalem in a manner where it is placing a number of Palestinian communities in Jerusalem outside of the Wall.

Palestinians were later pushed back by Israeli police from Lions' Gate, one of the main protest points, and not allowed to enter the compound.
