"Our hearts are heavy this morning, and our prayers are with the Clinton Police Department and the fallen officers family", the neighbouring Clay County Sheriff's office said.

According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol, Officer Gary Michael died after being shot during a traffic stop in the town of Clinton.

Michael returned fire, but it's not clear if he hit the suspect, who fled on foot after the crash, the sergeant said.

Huge blaze engulfs one of the tallest residential buildings in Dubai
Video of the blaze showed one exposure of the tower nearly entirely engulfed in flames with flaming debris falling from the tower. The skyscraper opened in 2011 and is thought to be the 32nd tallest building in the world, as per the Skyscraper Center.

Before the shooting, surveillance from a convenience store showed the driver of a Dodge Nitro, later identified by a witness as McCarthy, pull into the parking lot and enter the store, the probable cause statement said.

Mr Michael was reportedly able to return fire, but it is not known whether the driver was injured.

Fox News reports that McCarthy pleaded guilty in November 2013 to driving without a license in Missouri. In July 2015, he was charged with unlawful possession of a firearm.

Now, it seems, Facebook is comfortable pitching the feature more explicitly as a tool to counteract the spread of misinformation. Facebook said the update won't cause significant changes , and users will still see relevant stories.

Clinton is located about 75 miles southeast of Kansas City. "The time signature for this footage is consistent with Officer Michael's murder".
